Happy birthday Pella James

My baby girl is 2 years old today!

I remember clear as day 2 years ago putting every last ounce of energy my body had left to push out that baby, whom at that time the sex was a surprise! I couldn't have been more blessed and happy to give birth to a healthy baby girl.

Some of you may be new readers and if you are, let me quick to the point fill you in on Pella's life.

My pregnancy was a "oopsie" with my at the time ex boyfriend of 6.5 years. I embraced the thought of being a mother, regardless of being confused and alone. I gave birth to Pella James at 3:15pm on February 2nd 2010, it was the most bittersweet day of my life. Having at that time be "pretty much" single I laid in a hospital room with a new baby girl by my side, took her home and started our life together!

Skip ahead to 6ish months Pella was absolutely NO cake walk of a baby, I struggled with breast feeding, she struggled with constipation which is still an ongoing 'ordeal', she had colic, she had acid reflux, she was tiny, but beautiful. At 7 months I noticed delays, and other little things that stood out to me as "not normal" she hated being on stomach (not over exaggerating) she twirled her hands through out the day, she HATED substances, i.e. water, anything wet, or sticky, she wasnt crawling, she was barely sitting up on her own... just a number of things that made me turn to Occupational Therapy. From 7 months to date Pella has had a early interventionist, an occupational therapist, speech therapy and psychical therapy. Her diagnosis: Gross motor delays, low muscle tone, and a very weak trunk (torso). On top of her having all this therapy, I at that time was getting therapy for myself, to over come my past, and focus on the present! I worked really really hard to except the things I could not change. Right before Pella turned One, I was completely ready to move forward and let my baby daddy who was back and forth between me and someone else go. Pella turned One, and things from that moment on, really smoothed out for me, I was able to focus on what was important, I, for the first time in 2.5 years had a clear mind! Since then our life has been nothing but EASY, AND FUN. Pella has grown so much in the last year, shes over come obstacles I didn't think she'd be able to tackle so soon, shes a determined little child! She touches sticky gooey stuff! Shes running! Shes talking! Shes one the happiest kids I've ever come across. Its been such a blessing to have a daughter like her light up my life! Being a single mom has had it days, but to be honest I've been able to fully indulge in her, and be there FOR EACH AND EVERY little thing. I am so happy to have someone in my life now to share these moments with! 2012 so far has been a great year! I got a 2 year old, and am getting married!

Co-sleeping seems to be the 'IT' thing to do with babies now-a-days, however...

I beg to differ, for me: my room, my bed, and my sleep, is important... its my space, its my time, and its my sanity! NOT to say I've never done it before... before I met Nick, I would find myself lonely in a big ol' king bed all by myself and so I would sneak into Pella's room and kidnap her to sleep with me, and when shes been sicky poo shes always welcome to snuggle up with her mama! I just never wanted to have to be that mom who had to FIGHT my kid to sleep in their crib, or bed. I never wanted to be that mom whos stuck with a 6 year old begging and whining to sleep with me! NO THANKS! You hear people say its key for bonding, convenient for breastfeeding, and a "relief" knowing your baby is right there in the same bed with you, alive and breathing! Well, I don't think there is a lack of bond between Pella and I, and it was never convenient for me to breast feed her in my bed, as BF'ing was a total nightmare for me, and they have every monitor known to man to make sure my kids still breathing and her heart is pumping...So I guess co-sleeping just wasnt for me!

also, I dont know about you but I'd be weirded out if I had the "Stalker" baby! HA!

I've been slacking on blogging, BUT between planning a wedding, Pella's 2nd birthday party, and having the flu....Ive been consumed with STUFF!

Because Im currently brainstorming like a MAD WOMAN over my wedding details, I have been bookmarking some of my favorite DIY ideas to make my wedding everything Ive ever wanted AND didnt cost me MUCHO MONEY!

Utensil Dipping DIY: We started with purchasing a kit of Plasti-Dip, one that you could custom-tint to whatever color you chose. From there, I knew I wanted to achieve an ombre effect for each place setting, dipping each utensil with a shade just barely different from the last. I chose to use the lightest shade for the largest utensils, closest to the plate, and have them graduate darker accordingly. Plasti-Dip is EASY to use and fun to tint to whatever color you’d like to achieve. To make it easy on myself, I started with the darkest shade of green and worked my way lighter by adding a touch more white to each round of dipping. And the best part? It’s completely easy to remove if/as desired, and peeled off like a charm when I was done with it. Though, if I hadn’t peeled it off, who knows how long it could have lasted! It did not feel cheap or temporary at all!

Flavored Water!

With my New Years Resolution being to eat healthier and drink more water..I dont know about you, but I HATTTEE water! So I dug around for some natural ways to sweeten up my water!

Here are some ideas!

Add a slice of your favorite citrus to a tall glass of ice water…try lemon, lime, or orange slices. Or combine them…slices of lemon and lime…orange and lime…or try all three together!
Fresh mint is always a great addition to a glass of ice water.
Combine lemon slices with fresh herbs in your water…try lemon with mint, rosemary, thyme, or sliced ginger root.
Cucumbers are great in water, too! Slice up a large cucumber and add it to a pitcher of water…it’s really refreshing. You can also try cucumber with some fresh thyme added in. Or cucumber slices with lemon or orange slices.
If you want a more intense flavor to your glass of water, squeeze the citrus and/or twist the herbs you are using before you add them to your glass.
Besides lemons, oranges, and limes, you can try adding other kinds of fruit to your glass or pitcher of water…a small handful of your favorite berries (or mixed berries) is a nice addition to a glass of ice water. Other fruits you can try alone or in combination are: watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, pineapple, grapefruit, grapes, and kiwi.
Jenny from An Oregon Cottage mentioned in a comment on this post that she likes to use orange and mint or strawberry and cucumber combinations to flavor her water–great ideas!

If you’re wanting to make a pitcher of flavored water, you basically just slice or chop up some fresh fruit, cucumbers, or herbs and place in a pitcher, add cold water and chill several hours. The result is water infused with a light, natural flavor. It’s ready to serve over ice, garnished with a slice of fruit or clipping of an herb of your choice. Here are some other recipes for flavored water you may want to try:

CITRUS CUCUMBER WATER

1 large lemon, sliced
1 large lime, sliced
1 large orange, sliced
1 large cucumber, sliced
1 half-gallon of water

Place all the sliced fruits and the cucumber in a glass pitcher and add water. Refrigerate for two hours to allow flavors to infuse, then serve in glasses over ice.

CUCUMBER–HERBAL WATER

5 cups water
10 thin slices of cucumber
2 lemon slices
2 sprigs of fresh mint
3 sprigs of rosemary

Put water in pitcher and add lemon slices and cucumber slices. Crush mint and rosemary to release flavor, then add to other ingredients. Refrigerate for several hours. Serve over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

CUCUMBER–MELON WATER

1 large cucumber, sliced
1/4 honeydew melon, cubed
1/4 cantaloupe, cubed
1 half-gallon water

Place cucumber and melons in a glass pitcher and add water. Refrigerate for 2 hours, then serve over ice. Garnish with melon balls skewered on a swizzle stick.

HONEYDEW–LIME WATER

2–3 slices of ripe honeydew melon
1 lime, sliced
4 sprigs of mint
1 half-gallon of water

Add melon slices, lime slices and mint sprigs to a large pitcher; fill with the half-gallon of water and refrigerate 2–4 hours. Serve in ice-filled glasses. Makes about 8 servings.

HERB AND BERRY–FLAVORED WATER

1 cup fresh blueberries, lightly crushed
2 4–inch sprigs of fresh rosemary. lightly bruised (to release more flavor)
1 half-gallon of water

Add blueberries and rosemary sprigs to a large pitcher; fill with the half-gallon of water and refrigerate 2–4 hours. Serve in ice-filled glasses. Makes about 8 servings.

LEMON–LAVENDER WATER

3 large lemons, sliced
1/4 cup fresh lavender
1 half-gallon of water

Add lemon slices and lavender to pitcher; pour water over both and refrigerate for 2 hours. Serve over ice and garnish with a sprig of lavender.

LEMON–MINT or LEMON-BASIL WATER

4 lemons, sliced
1 1/2 cups firmly packed fresh mint or basil leaves
6–8 cups water
6–8 cups ice cubes
Fresh mint or basil sprigs

Place lemon slices in a large pitcher. Rub the mint or basil leaves between the palms of your hands to bruise the leaves slightly. Add to the pitcher with lemon and pour in the water. Cover and chill 1–8 hours.

Strain lemon–water mixture and discard herbs. Divide lemon slices and additional fresh mint or basil sprigs equally among 6–8 glasses. In each glass, add 1 cup of ice cubes, then fill with lemon water.

LEMON, LIME AND ORANGE WATER

1 large lemon, sliced
1 large lime, sliced
1 large orange, sliced
1/4 cup cilantro leaves (optional)
1 half-gallon of water

Add citrus slices (and cilantro leaves, if desired) to a large pitcher; fill with the half-gallon of water and refrigerate 2 hours. Serve in ice-filled glasses. Garnish with your favorite citrus slice (and a sprig of cilantro, if you’re using that). Makes about 8 servings.

FROZEN FRUIT WATER

2 cups frozen apple chunks, grapes, or berries
1 half-gallon of water

Add frozen fruit to a pitcher; pour water over fruit and let sit at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Stir to distribute fruit flavor and serve in glasses with some ice cubes. (Note: you can chop up the same kind of fruit, unfrozen, and follow same directions. You’ll need to use more ice when serving the unfrozen fruit–flavored water).

ORANGE–MINT WATER

3 large oranges, sliced
10 mint leaves
1 half-gallon of water

Put sliced oranges and mint leaves in pitcher and add water; refrigerate for 2 hours to infuse flavors. Pour over ice and garnish with a sprig of mint and orange slice.

WATERMELON–BASIL WATER

2 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
10 basil leaves
1 half-gallon of water

Pour water over melon and basil; refrigerate for 2 hours. Serve over ice, garnished with a sprig of basil.

FRUIT WATER

1 each of the following fruits: apple, lemon, orange, pear
4 large strawberries
Handful of raspberries
Handful of mint leaves
1 half-gallon of water

Cut large slices or thin wedges of each fruit; place them in a large glass pitcher and add cold water. Refrigerate 2 hours and serve over ice in tall glasses.

As I suspected 2012 started off GREAT! I got a new car a 2012 Chevy Tahoe!

SO happy to be out of my old Audi that was a fricken money pit and was always breaking down on me.

But lets skip that because getting a new car is nothing compared to how my NEW YEARS EVE ended!

Nick ASKED ME TO MARRY HIM!!!!

and I said YES!!!!!

Thats right people the once single mom, who had the rug pulled out from under her over and over, is going to be a MRS.! eeeppp!

As I type my mind is going 10000 mph! Im so excited, and happy! I never in a million years thought I'd find someone who compliments me SO WELL, and who loves everything about me! I was so used to getting ridiculed all the time for WHO I was, and not appreciated for WHO I am !

I am so blessed! I truly thought Id be single for a LONG time, which was fine with me, because Pella is my #1 priority! Almost 8 months later I have found myself to be deeply in love with the dude I will one day marry! I really feel with all my heart everything happens for a reason, & certain people are brought into your life for a reason! There is NOT one doubt in my mind about getting married, or why it wouldn't be fabulous idea! Our relationship is simple, and easy. We both get each other, respect each other and love each other! Its an amazing feeling!

I bet your dying to know how it went down!?

Wellp, The night started off at the Restaurant he took me to our first real date on, The Sunset restaurant in Malibu. I didnt really think anything of it at first I figured we were going there because they had a nice little NYE package dinner and its has amazing food. We ate dinner and then I was told we were going somewhere else to ring in the New Year, but it was a surprise... I still didnt really think anything of that either. We ended up in Hidden Hills pulling up to none other then OZZY OSBOURNE's house! Nicks friend is good friends with Jack and he invited us to come over there to celebrate! Now I reallllly didnt think anything of it being a surprise because I was too busy thinking to myself "Ugh yeah this is totally a surprise and AWESOME!!!" walking into this BEAUTIFUL home, into the kitchen and there stands Sharon, Ozzy, Jack, and 10-15 of their friends! I'm not one to be "star-struck" when I see celebrities, but HELLO its not like Im walking down some street in LA and walks by some random celeb! I am in the HOME of the Ozzy Osbourne! SUPER CHING if you ask me! They were VERY welcoming and humble! It was really cool to see a family who has endless amounts of money and fame be so down to earth! It was refreshing...BUT ANYWAYS! We all stood in their living room counting down to the New Year! The BALL dropped, I kissed my man, and that was that! Another year in the books, welcoming a new one! When it was all said and done, Nick asked me to come outside with him, so I did... he grabbed my hand and walked out into their HUGE GORGEOUS yard that over looks Hidden Hills... stopped, turned me to face him looked and me told me he how much he loved me and got down on ONE KNEE, and popped the question!!!!!

In that exact moment of that happening I was completely taken back... thinking to myself "NO FUCKIN WAY!" and I even managed to say it out loud..."NO WAY!" But when it came down to saying yes of course I did! I never really thought about how I would react to a proposal. In that moment I didn't feel like it wasn't the right time, or had any doubts to be honest. All I felt was happiness! I've never felt that feeling of someone wanting to be committed to me forever like that. I've known nothing other then let down from people I love with exception to my dad! When all said and done, he put this AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL ring on my finger and that was that! We walked back hand in hand to our group of friends and told them I said yes! Everyone took a bunch of pictures, of us and of course hit the interwebs with the NEWS! We walked into Ozzy's house where he was sitting at the table and he asked "SO WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" "WHENS THE WEDDING!?" I'll never forget that moment, Its the happiest moment I've experienced next to giving birth to Pella! Im so so so happy! Here I am three days later looking at this ring on my left hand and its a constant reminder that I have someone who loves me for me, loves my daughter, and has made the choice to be my future hubs!

AH! just tearing up thinking about it! :)

No date set yet, I just want to enjoy our engagement, enjoy each other without the stress of planning a wedding right now, and when I feel like its time, I will EXECUTE!

Christmas being a couple days away I cant help but think about last years Christmas, and the Christmas before that. Why? Because the last 2 Christmas' weren't exactly Merry. Christmas 2009 I was 7.5 months pregnant, just moved back home from LA, was alone, and didn't even give two shirts about this Holiday.

Christmas 2010, I had a 10 month old, still alone, I was a complete emotional wreck from all twisted, effed up shit I had been dealing with my new baby, and my BD drama. The last two years I didnt have Christmas tree, I didnt decorate, I didnt bake cookies... I didnt do anything but enjoy the company of my family when I was pregnant, and then my daughter on her first Christmas! Here we are 2011, and I feel like this is going to be a GREAT, AMAZING Christmas! I have a 22 month old who has been nothing but a blessing to have as my daughter! I wont be alone FINALLY! I got a real christmas tree! I actually enjoyed shopping, and prepping for the BIG DAY! I guess Im just really thankful for all of the hardships I experienced and got through! I can honestly look back at the all those moments and events from the past 2 years and not even feel that hurt anymore! I look back and am really proud of myself for finally standing on my own two feet and doing what was best for me and best for my daughter. I am finally in such a good place mentally, psychically, and emotionally.

I am so excited to spend this Holiday with the people I love and the people who have been so supportive and there for me! I dont even "want" anything for Christmas for myself, this year was about giving back and reaching out to others who are not as fortunate as some of us! I posted awhile back about the gift drive for 80+ low income children we were sponsoring to provide gifts for, well I cant even begin to express how Amazing it was to be able to give a gift to each and every one of those kids who some have NEVER had a Christmas! It melted my heart to watch their faces light up with excitement! I want to thank EVERYONE who helped my roomate/best friend Kim
with providing gifts, and donating on behalf of the cause. It was a great turn out! Thats what Christmas is all about.

DIY Christmas Craft: YARN TREES

What you need:

3 Foam Trees ( Can be purchased at any hobby/craft store)
Yarn (obviously......)
Decorative ornament balls (.99 store has tons of cheap "decorative balls")
Hot Glue Gun (KEEP AWAY FROM THE TODDLERS!!!)

Directions
1. Wrap your trees with the yarn.

Start by putting a dab of hot glue on the foam to start your yarn and to keep it in place. I actually didn’t use anymore hot glue as I kept wrapping – it stayed in place perfectly. There is no science to it really, I just kept wrapping – I did not wrap the yarn perfectly as I kind of like the “messy” look of it compared to the perfect lines – plus that would take a bit longer Wrap the trees until your foam is completely covered (takes a couple of minutes) and end your yarn with another dab of hot glue.
2. Hot glue your ornaments.
3. Add a snowflake or ornament of your choice to the top.

Its that time of year again... the day I have been waiting for MONTHS!

YO GABBA GABBA LIVE!!!

I took Pella last year when she was 9 months (call me crazy) I know , who takes a 9 month old to something like that? WELLP...ME! Pella has always been pretty intrigued with DJ Lance and all his buddies! Having taken her last year, I've seriously been DYING to take her this year, we went to Fridays show, and DUH... she had a freakin blast!! I went with my neighbor and her son whos 3 and another friend of mine with her 2 year son ironically sat behind us! At first she was terrified, a DARK huge room with thousands of screaming over stimulated kids, bright lights flashing on and off..I saw it coming! Then came its time to dance, and party in my tummy she was all over it.. dancing it up in the aisle.. like a Lil' BOSS! Now I can barely wait to take her NEXT year! Its so worth every penny !! That feeling that comes over you when you get to watch your child laugh, dance, and just enjoy being in that moment, I dont think you can put a price tag on that. Great appetizer idea for holiday parties, but I think its just a pretty damn good snack

Zucchini Pizza Bites
Gina's Weight Watcher Recipes
Servings: 1 • Serving Size: 4 pieces • Old Points: 2 pts • Points+: 3 pts
Calories: 124.8 • Fat: 5.7 g • Protein: 8.2 g • Carb: 10.4 g • Fiber: 3.0 g

Ingredients:

4 slices large zucchini 1/4" thick (or 1 medium zucchini cut on diagnal)
Spray olive oil (I used my Misto)
2 tbsp pizza sauce
1/4 cup part skim mozzarella
salt and pepper

Directions:
Cut zucchini about 1/4 inch thick. Spray both side lightly with oil and season with salt and pepper. Broil or grill for about 2 minute on each side. Top with sauce and cheese and broil for an additional minute or two. (Careful not to burn cheese)

As of lately I feel like my anxiety has been running my life. I havent been riddled with anxiety since my early teens, and I have noticed it creeping back in my life slowly but surely, and I think these are some reasons why....

A couple reasons why Single Parenting is the PITS.

Keeping up with my house. YES, I recently hired "HELP" to help me pick my slack, and do the things I either A. FUCKING HATE DOING, and B. There just isnt enough time in my day. Even with someone coming in once a week to help me I still find my house to look like a effin HURRICANE slammed through it. I find myself adding more and more clothes to that pile of laundry EVERY DAY, regardless of doing a load a day it NEVER GOES AWAY! TRASH!!! dont ask me HOW, but seriously I am taking out a garbage can FULL of trash EVERYDAY! I dont know where all this stupid trash comes from but every time I move around my house I am constantly picking up trash!!!!!!!
ME TIME! As of lately I have found myself having A LOT more free time then Ive ever had in the last 2 years, but when I get that time without Pella, I find myself having to take care of more important things, like cleaning up my house, going grocery shopping, running random errand that I put off every other day. There are days I just wish when my imaginary "husband" got home I could feed his belly, and tell him "OK, SEE YA!" and runaway to the Spa, or the mall, or even go sit on the beach and watch the sunset. ANYTHING that involves me, SOLO, doing nothing, and or having it done for me. OH AND DUH, what aboout working out!?!!! I dont even have the time to work out anymore! KISSING MY BOMB.COM post baby bod down the TUBES.
SLEEP! If my kid is sleep deprived, I am sleep deprived. there is no trading off, there is no "I get to sleep in today" days! Yeah I hear it alllll day long NAP WHEN PELLA NAPS.... Hey guess what, I dont know about you, but I usually have dishes to wash, a bed to make, clothes to hang up, bills to pay, dogs to feed, counters to clean off, laundry to wash, car to clean out, YOU NAME IT.... but I guess I'll sleep when Im DEAD, huh?
Odds and Ends.... and what I mean by that is all the stuff that falls in between my daily routine... I.E. errands, work, Dr's appointments...whatever. When having a baby by yourself these things you often find yourself having to do WITH your baby (sometimes). Having to lug a kid around with you to run to the bank, go to target, have my yearly female checkup, bla bla bla is like 2x MORE COMPLICATED, AND TAKES TWICE AS LONG TO DO.... not to say I dont enjoy runnin around with my kid, but there are times its be nice to go do this stuff solo!

These few things I just went into depth complaining about may or MAY NOT be why I find myself being short of breathe, anxious, and....picking the skin around my fingernails till it bleeds!

It may sound like Im totally being a selfish pig, but Im not! I LOVE every minute I spend with my daughter, she puts a smile on my face, she makes feel blessed, and we both LOVE each others company. But being a single parent has its challenges, and has its HARD days...if it wasnt for the satisfaction I get out of how it challenges my life daily, id probably be that lazy, mad at the world, drowning in self pitty, and living back at home with my parents to SAVE ME single mom. I guess Im finding it a little harder then normal to find balance in my days... there just isnt enough hours in my days....

with working 2 days a week, having to do therapy 2 days a week, having Pella go with BD 2/3 times a week, and all the other stuff that falls in between, its hard some days to be doing it all by myself.

Maybe tonight when Pella goes to bed I'll post the THINGS I LOVE about being a Single Mom...how bout that?!

A lot of people ask me what I do for a living, well for those who don't already know, I own a modern Childrens boutique in the Los Angeles area, called DROOL.

Today I spent my entire day 11am- 7pm re-merchandising the downstairs of my store with are 7 built out nursery vignettes. I took a bunch of pictures today of all the hard work we did today to make new, upbeat, vignettes for my customers to shop off of. I don't know about you, but I am a very visual person... so I feel like its much more effective when trying to grasp onto a certain theme or idea while shopping.

Pella combined her first words! its nothing to CRAY, but im happy shes making progress in her communication!

shes been saying "UP" and I usually tell her before I "do" anything for her, "what do you say" she'll respond with "PEEEES" (please) So yeaterday she wanted up on this chair at a restaurant we were at and I waited...AKA 'OWLED' and she said "UP, PEEES"

I was so proud of her! Love my Peejers!

The hardest part

How was your morning? MINE, was HEINOUS!!!

My normally sweet happy, cheerful, hilarious child was taken over by a demon!

I swear for ONE solid hour I had this demon in between my legs screaming, whining, and more less throwing her first REAL tantrum.

I kneel down looking into those red, puffy eyes, asking Pella "What?" "What do you want?"

"snack?" "Juice?" "Shoes?" "Justin Bieber?" <-- always cheers her up

Pella's reply "EHHHHHHHH! WAHHHHHH!" pushing me away only to throw herself down to her knees, smash her face into wood floor and cry.

Folks, this went on for ONE hour!!!!!! I finally was beside myself, OBVIOUSLY I could be no help to this demon. I put her in her crib with some juice, her paci, a book, closed the door behind me and didnt look back!! I continued to get dressed for work!

The HARDEST part about what happened to me this morning was that helpless feeling!

I now have this toddler who doesnt want to be cuddled anymore, and doesnt want my assistance with out her asking for it first! Its really HARD staying calm when the tantrum is in full force! Its really HARD to watch my kid gagging herself bc shes SO MAD, over NOTHING. Its really HARD to run out of options to offer her to TRY and tame the TANTCH!(short for tantrum). Its really HARD to NOT yell back at her!

This is just a minor example of how HARD parenting, single parenting in my case really can be.

Gluten Free Pumpkin Honey bread

Nothing says autumn like pumpkin bread and even better that this recipe is gluten free! As the saying goes: It's delicious and nutritious. With the addition of flax seed your family will get a boost of fiber and Omega 3 essential fatty acids to go along with the homemade-ness of moist pumpkin goodness. This recipe makes two loafs so enjoy one immediately and then freeze individual slices for a quick breakfast (or snack!) on the go.

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups gluten free flour mix*
1/2 cup ground flax seed or flax seed meal
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon xantham gum
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups + 2 tablespoons honey
1 (15-ounce) canned pumpkin
1/3 cup applesauce
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup coconut oil liquified
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

* You can use a store-bought gluten free flour mix our use the following recommended mixture: 1 1/4 cups coconut flour, 1/2 cup tapioca flour, 1/2 cup millet flour or brown rice flour, 1/4 cup gluten free oat flour

Method
1. Preheat oven to 350° (Note: temperature will be reduced to 325° after the first 10 minutes of baking).
2. Prepare 2 (9 x 5-inch) loaf pans with cooking spray and set aside.
3. Lightly spoon flours into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Sift flours and next 7 ingredients (through salt) together into a large bowl. Combine all dry ingredients thoroughly using a whisk.
4. Combine honey, pumpkin, applesauce, and eggs in a separate large bowl; beat with a whisk until smooth. Whisk in the coconut oil.
5. Add the flour mixture to the honey mixture and stir until thoroughly combined (avoid over mixing). Fold in the walnuts.
6. Equally divide and spoon batter into 2 (9 x 5-inch) loaf pans coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
7. Reduce the oven temperature to 325° and bake for an additional 50-55 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
8. Cool loaves in pans 10 minutes on a wire rack; remove from pans. Cool loaves completely before slicing.

It Takes Two to Talk

Today was the first class I attended out of 8 for Pella's early intervention for Speech therapy.
It is a parent ONLY class which runs every week from 6:30-9pm.... It is quite the commitment!
I have been told many good things about this class, and the teaching technique is known to be highly successful... So for those of you wondering what exactly it is, its called "IT TAKES TWO TO TALK" which is taught my the Hanen Centre.

"Founded more than 35 years ago, The Hanen Centre is a Canadian charitable organization with a global reach."

"Our mission is to provide parents, caregivers, early childhood educators and speech-language pathologists with the knowledge and training they need to help all preschool children develop the best possible language, social and literacy skills, including those children with or at risk of language delays and those with developmental challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, including Asperger Syndrome."

You have a mouth full of TEEF, a full head of hair, painted nails, demanding to dress yourself, shaking your head NO at me when you dont want anything to do with me, bringing me the remote control so I can put on your favorite song to dance too Justin Bieber "Somebody to Love", and pretty much not letting me help you DO MUCH OF ANYTHING these days! Today is September 29th, my last post was in JUNE.... Im such a terrible blogger, but the honest to god truth is, between facebook, instagram, twitter, and tumblr, I have been so occupied. I have been missing out on documenting all of the AMAZING things I have going on in my life as of late.

So where do I start? Lets start with Pella, she will be 20 months on October 2nd, as I type this tears come to my eyes. My baby is not a baby! Her last well check which was 2 weeks ago she is 18lbs 6oz and 33" tall, still tiny little girl. Since the last update there is lots of news with PEEJ!

shes got a mouth full of teeth, 3 are coming in as we speak, so she is a snotty, crabby mess!

She was recently re-assessed for an early intervention program, in which she is eligible for services for one year. An early intervention program for her includes both Physical therapy for her strength, and weaknesses, and occupational therapy to continue to work with her sensory, tactile, and motor skills. Im really happy about starting a mommy and me "speech program" as well to encourage her to talk and to help me better communicate with her. She is not talking much, says a handful of words, and speaks GIBBERISH all day long..... shes trying.

As for her constipation issues they still exist and I have been diligent with trying to treat these issues. I had her on a Gluten Free diet, for 2 months in which did NOTHING. We were back at the gastro specialist last month, in which I was told to INCREASE her MIralax intake, and up her liquids intake. This has seemed to work here and there, we are week 5 of this new approach and she good days and bad days. Overall I feel like this is just something that is genetic and I am going to do the best I can to help her when she has tummy issues. I had her tested her Celiac Disease, and a food allergy blood panel in which were all negative, I was relieved.

I recently decided to enroll her into an in-home day care, in which she loves!! I love it too b/c I am able to go to work knowing she is close by, interacting with kids her age, and having fun, rather then be bored by herself stuck at home with a nanny!

Pella has continued to blossom into a beautiful, hilarious, old soul...I just LOVE the age she is at right now, and I wish she could just STOP growing! here some recent photos of the PEEJinNATOR!

As for me, well A L O T has changed with me.

The last update I ranted about my BD (DUH!) and about how over I was with being NICE and being taken advantage of...and blah blah. Well, court came and went. A judgement was made, and I am content with the fact there is now BOUNDARIES, and I am getting financial support.

I'll stop there.

ARE YOU READY?

I found LOVE. Yep. I am officially in a relationship with a MAN (for those of you idiots who thought otherwise) He is EVERYTHING I could ever ask for in a man. I really never thought Id be in a relationship, which how young Pella is, I didnt really know how I would ever have the time to dedicate to getting to know someone. Then I meet this man, who understands and accepts me, and my situation (mind you I thought these kind of guys didn't exist) All the qualities I look for in a man in todays world cease to exist... BOY did I think wrong. I was terrified of letting my guard down, terrified of commitment, and terrified of being accepted as a single mom who has BD baggage. We met in May, and here we are in October practically and I couldn't be happier. Its refreshing to have met a man who loves me for me, and accepts my child and loves her. It melts my heart to be able to feel these feelings of sharing my child with someone who appreciates the small things Pella does, and says. I felt so alone when Pella was an infant, I was alone...I shared all the things Pella did with myself and virtual world on this blog, its not the same being able to share moments with someone you love. I feel extremely blessed to have met him. Im really excited for what our future holds. I told myself from the get go I wasnt going to compare him to my past, or let my past hold me back from being happy.

It feels really good.

the in between, work and home, its all a pain in my ass, but I deal! lol <3

deep breathe ok...so Ive always been the person to bite the bullet, be the bigger person, as many times as there have been in the last 16 months of wanting to keep my daughter all to myself and say FUCK IT, I havent. I've dealt with the instability, the headache, the lies, excuses, the close to NO support from her better half. Im not going to sit here and bash the man, or say things out of hate, but I am human, and I'm exhausted and tired. I have over exerted myself time and again, I am constantly taken advantage of, my time and MORE IMPORTANTLY my kids time is being wasted.
I filed for custody and support back in December of last year and WHY THE FUCK I dont have my court yet is BEYOND me!!!! Ive touched base BI-WEEKLY with my attorney, following up with what the fuckin deal is and STILL Nothing! Im told I should have something in the next week. OK GREAT, so my gut punching decision is to not deal with BD, until the order is in place, meaning I wont wait around every week to see if hes going to show or not. His obligation of being her father is to be financially responsible, morally responsible and psychically responsible, out of these all my daughter gets is him showing up, wanting a pat on the back and respect from ME b/c he SHOWED UP.
Its extremely frustrating to stay on the right path of PEACE between him and I, when he puts NO effort into making that possible. Hes got baggage, hes got his priorities out of whack, and its not fair to me or Pella. He has never had consequences for his parental actions, where my life is nothing but consequences and sacrifices. I know what Im choosing to do is temporary, and is the best for my sanity at this moment in time. Ive tried being the communicator, Ive tried being nice, Ive tried moving days and times around, Ive asked him for $0 ever since he decided he didnt want to "support me" (his idea of what child support is) and personally I just dont give a fuck anymore. I carry BOTH our weights, and emotion!!! Pella is too young to know whats going on, to know her dad is all over the place, and to be affected by all of this. Im hoping that by withdrawing him from her life until we have a court order, will make him wake up and smell the roses, see the big picture! I am struggling with this choice, some people will probably say Im crazy for not doing it sooner or Im crazy for not letting Pella see her dad, but to those people who dont live in my shoes... all I can say my intentions are NOT to keep my daughter from her dad, its something Ive decided is necessary until we both have set boundaries and guidelines....

What's your favorite thing about being a mom?: Definitely seeing my kids discover their environment around them, we love to travel with them and always try to make weekends an adventure by going to the beach, hiking, museums..even doing yard work is fun for them.. just getting out and letting them touch everything and watch their little minds explode! It's crazy..from the moment Curren and Fin were both born, we were picturing camping trips, vacations, sports...we live for them. It's the best when your kid does something awesome and you can look at your husband or partner and smile.. and just share that experience- knowing you both have endless love for them.

What's your least favorite thing about being a mom?:It would have to be a toss up of the lack of sleep, and the noise level, my brain cannot function with a lot of noise..none of my kids toys have batteries, and all wires have been cut accordingly!

Tell us something unique about you: I grew up raising sheep, pigs, horses and every other animal on this earth haha

Tell us why your kid is the bomb.com: Curren is the bomb.com because he is ALWAYS up for anything, he has zero fear of taking a risk (he is always covered in cuts and bruises) and as scary as it can be for ME, i love his sense of adventure, he is also very social..just at the parks yesterday he rounded up a group of 4 year olds and got them to play freeze tag all over the park, he is usually the one to get the party started (hopefully this will not continue into the High School years!!).

Fin is the bomb.com because she is SO CHILL, thank God. She is super easy going, and ALWAYS happy. She also has been a great nurser from day one, which has made breastfeeding this time around a breeze, she'll nurse anywhere at anytime. She's never taken a bottle- the longest i've been away from her is 2.5 hours and it's honestly been totally fine. Curren is a different story, I need breaks from him a little more OFTEN! I could count on one hand the amount of times Finley has cried and I didn't know why, she is one happy camper, and very content.

One of your favorite "remedies/ or tricks of the trade"(for gas, teething,sleep,ANYTHING): Its so different for every kid..but for teething, Curren slept a lot better when we elevated his mattress with a few books under it (and lots of tylenol). For Fin, doing the I LOVE YOU massage on her tummy ALWAYS rid her of gas, within a minute or so..found here..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ4HPREfBgo, kind of random but when she was constipated the Nap Nanny was just the right position and she would always go within mins of putting her in there.

For about 3 months Pella has been walking along furniture, refusing to walk on her own! I never pushed her to walk on her own, shes on her own schedule, always has been, always will be! Sat up at 7 months, crawled at 10 months, walked at 16 months!

I figured by 13-14 months shed easily be walking around, not so much! She went from furniture cruising to demanding to hold my fingers to walk out in front of me.... one month....two months....almost 3 months of finger walking, yesterday was the day SHE decided to ditch the fingers! For the entire day yesterday she was WALKING, "Look ma no hands!" I literally internally cried, my baby is a TODDLER!!!!!! now all she needs is some teeth!

Summer MUST haves

Taking a minuto to go over some of my pick for Summer necessities.

1. Little Twig Sunscreen
ive had my fair share of experimenting with all the brands of baby sunscreens/adult SPF's especially with my tattoos I like to keep looking fresh and having had my skin cancer scare back in middle school a good SPF is extremely important to me. I was recently in Vegas, and Havasu, which are 2 places for a guaranteed sunburn, and I brought this sunscreen.. Happy to report I came home from both trips SUN BURN FREE!
Some important points about this SPF its: non-chemical, water resistant, no mineral oil, organic ingredients, unscented, Paraben free, nut, soy, wheat free, NOT greasy, & NOT irritating.

2. Chivas vegan Lip Balm

made from local farm raised goats milk, this shit is the bomb.com on the lips!
its a little pricey $5-7 a tube depending on where you buy it from... its worth every cent.

3. Skip Hop Zoo Pack
Now that Peej is a big girl, as much as I love my PPB sashay satchel, Peej got the Owl zoo pack for her birthday and it seems to work perfect for daily outings and trips to grandpas!

4. Tea collection rompers
I love love Tea Collection its all pre -shrunk, true to size (for the most part) and REAL cotton!
The prints are always super cute. Theses rompers are perfect for the summer!

I know its been FOREVER since Ive updated my blog!!! I was really hoping tohave had my new site all done by now, but its not and I have an itch to blog!

I haven't updated since April!!! geez that is a long time! So much has happened and Ill do my best to fill you all in....

where do I start? I can start with I am now 26 years of age! I officially feel a little old! lol.

I am STILL single, by choice of course! Not to say I haven't had any men in my life period, just no one special enough to call MINE! I still find it at times extremely frustrating, but I am still honestly too busy raising Peej, working, and with summer here squeezing in as much activity as possible. Im pretty much all healed up from my surgery I had back in March. I am very satisfied with the results considering I am 3 months post op. what else? Nothing has changed with BD hes still a massive pain in our asses, but thats just part of life. Finally have a court order coming through in a matter of days, so that should be really fun.

Lets talk about my lovely daughter! She is now 16 MONTHS old!!!! CAN YOU FUCKIN BELIEVE IT??? I sure cant, I am sad shes growing into this little lady!! I actually happen to LOVE this stage shes in though! Of course shes still a little behind with some things. She isnt fully walking on her own yet, she holds my finger or walks from furniture to furniture to walk along, only taking about 6-8 steps with "LOOK MA NO HANDS" and gives up! I am not discouraged by this, I know homegirl is just being lazy! SHE FINALLY.....

.:::DRUM ROLL PLEASE:::....Has a tooth!!!!!!! YUP, Pella's first tooth was her 2 year molar! NO BIG EFFIN DEAL!!!! everyone Ive told has literally died laughing with confusion, A MOLAR??? yeah, what can I say my kid is special! Im sure you're all dying to know how her POOPING is... and I am pleased to inform you all she is pretty much cured from constipation!

It only took 13-14 months to figure out, Pella cant do Diary PERIOD. and she must have a serving of BRAN to help keep things moving along. I have not had to use MIRALAX in over a month maybe longer! Its such a relief! We substituted Cows Milk, for Coconut Milk. and she LOVES IT. I also give her Coconut yogurt in place of cows milk, and or soy yogurt.

Her favorite things to much on are French Toast stix, strawberries, and bananas.

She seems to not be into meat, Ive tried them all, and the only one shell take more than 3 bites of is a HOT DOG! TYPICAL!

She is really really working on her vocabulary, she says "mum" "mama" "dog" also makes barking sounds, and "da", "boat" she makes sheep sounds and duckie sounds.... but thats about it as far as clearly spoken words... otherwise is just jiberish rambling.

She LOVES to dance, play the piano, yell at the dogs, wear necklaces, put on makeup, kick, and pinch, <---NOT FUN, and go to grandpas!

Her last check up was at 15 months and she was 16lb 3oz and just shy of 28" tall.

shes STILL tiny as ever, but healthy as can be.

so there is my little update on US! I promise I will get back into the swing of things here shortly!

Sex and the Single Mom

I just read a great article over at

Maybe its my "rapist wit" (says Llyod Christmas in Dumb & Dumbr)
but sex being a single parent is a whole new BALL GAME.
and being in my 20's its all guys want anyways. I don't know about you,
but I was raised in a catholic home, with morals and values...so sex wasnt exactly an "open for discussion" topic. I pretty much had to figure it all out on my own, which is fine, but now in my 20's I find myself with child, on the prowl from time to time, and it definitely makes me feel like a such a piece of shit, but yet its like, HELLO, I have needs, i'm not a bad person bc the person I had a child with is an idiot, nor was it a situation where 5030400 men could be my baby daddy!
In the article I just read, it talks about keeping the single mom sex life "separate" and "detached" from the daily life of ear infections, crying baby, and poop diapers, which is sooo true and yet a really hard for me to not try and feel guilty or bad about my sex life as a single parent.
But guess what! I'm not going to feel guilty for wanting "me" time, and if that involves spending time with someone of the opposite sex, so be it. I feel like Single parent sex talk is NEVER discussed....and its nice to see other women speaking out about it.!

House up-keep!

I'm no neat freak by any means but seriously the amount of upkeep my home requires the older my child gets is OUTRAGEOUS!
I literally have to take out 2 bags of trash everyday, run my dishwasher everyday, do at least 2 loads of laundry everyday, pick up toys over and over and over, vacuum everyday, tidy up my bathroom everyday, clean bottles everyday, sweep up dog fur everyday..I mean honestly you'd think with doing all this clean up management everyday, my hosue would at least stay semi organized, but NO it doesnt, shit piles up, trash piles up, while my refrigerator is empty and I never have anything to wear! I swear to god day in and day out I have anxiety about how messy my house is, Peej tears shit up CONSTANTLY, she doesn't play with toys, she plays with paper, remotes and diaper wipes! I have tried to keep her play space contained, but as of late she drags all her shit out of her "CIRCUS" only for me to have to pick it all up throw it back in her circus, and REPEAT that same exact action the next day.... Thank god I have help, because if I didn't I swear my house would look like the slums. I just wish there was an easier way to stay organized!
Maybe I just need a house cleaner to come every 2 weeks? or maybe I need schedule out all the house tasks so Im not overwhelmed ... anyone have any tips? how do you keep your casa up to par? do do you just say FUCK it, and only clean it when you know your gonna have guests over?!!! haha.

Whats your favorite thing about bein a mom?: Knowing that my son looks up to me. As a parent, children look up to us so much and try to mimic our every move. I love knowing that Kaden has someone who will teach him how to grow up in this world and someone who will teach him right from wrong. I love all the giggles, slobbery wet kisses, random smiles, the hugs, the way he looks at me when I fix one of his toys, all the cuddles, etc. I love when he's laying on my lap and he's really tired, he'll start playing with my ear. Finding happiness in the simplest things. And, the simple fact that Kaden has taught me SO much about life. I love it all!

Whats your least favorite thing about being a mom?: Losing sleep! Before having Kaden I took it for granted...now I live for a good nights sleep! I usually fall asleep before 9pm!

Tell us something unique about you: I have a scar on my right arm that looks like a perfect 7. I got it by running into a tree while driving a go-cart. Is that unique enough?

Tell us why your kid is the bomb.com: Ever since birth, Kaden has been a very laid back child. He was an extremely easy baby, and now that he's a toddler and I can see his personality shining through. It's like he lives to make people laugh. He is SO funny. I can just see him being the class clown in the future

She's been holding her bottle (off and on) since she was 3 weeks old, and recognizes things like her bottle when she's hungry, and my voice in the night when she's crying. :)

One of your favorite "remedies/ or tricks of the trade"(for gas, teething,sleep,ANYTHING): The glider!!! Everyone told me this was a waste of money, but I got one anyways, and it's been a huge lifesaver. Any time she's inconsolable, I hold her and rock her in the glider and she always falls asleep. I love it.

I've gotten alot of questions as to what my skin care/makeup regimen is...So I thought I would Share with you what I use.

Eminence is by far my favorite skincare line besides Orgins.

Its all Organic and Natural. Its pricey but worth every penny!

below is the set I have and use most often it is the Stone Crop set

Its a Gel Face wash,Hydrating Masque (I rarely use), a gel moisturizer (I use the gel most often), and whip moisturizer. I dont use the serum though.

Stone Crop Toner, LOVE this stuff

Pear and Poppy seed microderm scrub, I use this once or twice a month, its very seedy and leave my skin feeling amazing!

Grapefruit-C gel I use when my skin is EXTRA thirsty!

Sweet Rose Whip smells soooo good and is a great night creme.

I rarely wear makeup, I just dont have time usually its just concealer and some mascara,

Its unfortunate when people take what I say or do too far. Nothing anyone else says or does affects my daily life, I may have my opinion JUST LIKE EVERYONE else seems to have, but thats all. Half the time I say nothing. If you want me to be your target in your fantasy shooting range, have at it! If I am someone you dont particularly "care for" or "like" its pretty fuckin simple, UNFOLLOW me, delete me from your bookmarks... whatever...
